Research & Development
As a company driven by science and purpose, we never stop looking for new ways to marry one with the other, using the latest research and technology to further our purpose of advancing care for animals.
Our work is never done. We are always looking for the next unmet need. To help pets live longer, healthier lives with the people who love them. To help farmers raise healthier, more productive livestock. To help veterinarians provide the best care to pets and farm animals. Our scientists explore innovations across the continuum of animal health care – to predict, prevent, detect and treat disease.
Livestock
Without healthy animals, you can’t have a healthy livestock business. That’s why Westland is always pushing the limits of innovation in our efforts to predict, prevent, detect and treat disease. This helps keep your animals, your business and your customers healthy and protected.
Our products and services support our livestock customers in their essential work to raise healthy cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry and fish that provide safe, sustainable nutrition to our growing world.
The people who work at Westland also work and volunteer in animal agriculture organizations around the world. This not only means we’re doing our part to support the community, it also means we have our finger on the pulse of the community’s needs and can ensure those needs are reflected in the work we do at Westland .
Diet and nutrition plan
Nutrients are any substance that a living creature’s body breaks down and uses to support life: including vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, water, and fiber.
Diabetes is a serious metabolic disease that results when your pet can’t produce or use enough insulin to store and metabolize sugar. Don’t wait if you spot symptoms — the sooner you act, the sooner your veterinary team can help your pet.

Westland veterinary provides vaccinations for rabies, DAPP (distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, parainfluenza), Bordetella, leptospirosis, Feline rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia (feline distemper), Feline Leukemia (FeLV), and more as recommended by your vet.

FAQ
Do Pets have food allergies?
Yes, they do. You may be surprised by what food allergy symptoms in pets look like — and what they don’t.
Food allergies often affect ears and skin — not just tummies! This can lead to inflamed, itchy skin and recurring ear issues.
can my dog eat oranges?
Oranges, tangerines, and clementines are not toxic, but pets may avoid them because of the strong citric acid smell of the peels. Cats often have dietary issues with citric acid. Other fruits, like pineapples and mangos, are also not toxic, but they can easily cause stomach upset from the sugar, acidity, and fiber.
Is wet food better than dry food for my pet?
Wet food isn’t necessarily more nutritious or easily digested than dry food. It’s mostly just more… wet. Due to its nature, wet food will hold more water with less solid nutrition than an equal amount of kibble, but it’s an effective way to ensure that your pet gets extra hydration.
Dry foods deliver more nutrition in a smaller form, and they will not spoil as quickly in your pet’s bowl. They do have one benefit over wet foods in that some varieties are designed to help reduce dental plaque. It’s worth asking your veterinary team what they recommend.
How do you pick a quality pet food?
Look for quality pet food that has a scientifically balanced ratio of ingredients that deliver key nutrients like protein, vitamins and minerals, carbohydrates, and more.
The pet you love needs quality nutrition to support a healthy body — and you can deliver that in many ways. Properly formulated commercial foods deliver the quality nutrition your pet deserves.
